LINKS hosts seminar on parliamentary practices and traditions for students and young people from the Sumgait region of Azerbaijan.

More than fifty young people and university students from the region of Sumgait in Azerbaijan participated in a one day seminar on Parliamentary practices and traditions hosted by LINKS at the Irshad Hotel in Baku. Participants discussed the role of parliament in promoting good governance, using examples from the British Parliament, the Parliament of Scotland and the Parliament of Azerbaijan.

Miss Henrietta Hales, an official of the Parliament of Scotland was the guest speaker in the seminar. She shared with participants information on the work of the Parliament of Scotland which is one of the youngest parliaments in the world, having been established in 1999.

The meeting ended with a speech by Mr Nasimi Iskanderov, Member of Parliament from the Sumgait region, who afterwards answered questions on a wide range of subjects put to him by his young constituents.
