LINKS Programme Priorities for Armenia 2004 - 2006
For the period 2004 - 2006 LINKS will increase its activity in Armenia . Our work will focus on five main programmes:
- Support for the work of the South Caucasus Parliamentary Initiative and particularly support to the Armenian Presidency of SCPI in the period July-December 2004.
- Engagement with efforts to find a peaceful and early solution to the Karabakh issue and for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and Armenia and Turkey
- Support for the process of democratic state building, particularly through engagement with the youth sections of the political parties and support for a process of democratization and increased transparency of Armenian political forces
- Support for the process of full integration of Armenia in the European family.
- Launch of a new businessmen club, bringing together businessmen with a social responsibility aimed at those who believe that legitimate business can make an important and useful contribution to society.
Since January 2004 LINKS has a permanent representative based in Yerevan who has direct responsibility for the Armenia programme, as well as other activities region wide. LINKS main partners in Armenia are The National Assembly of Armenia, The International Center for Human Development and The British Alumni Association. LINKS also collaborates closely with other British and International Partners, including The John Smith Memorial Trust and is a member of the Consortium Initiative, a coalition of non governmental organizations supporting peace efforts in the South Caucasus.
