LINKS today launched its programme of work in Azerbaijan during a reception held at the Mashadi ibad Club in Baku. Present for the launch were government and opposition members of the Milli Meclis, representatives of NGOs and youth organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps. The British Ambassador to Baku, HE Lawrie Bristow, the Head of the Azerbaijan Parliament Delegation to SCPI, Siyavoush Novruzov and the Executive Director of LINKS made short speeches at the ceremony. LINKS programme priorities in Azerbaijan for 2004-6 include work with young politicians and the business community, as well as support for vulnerable groups such as refugees and national minorities.
