24th April 2008

The conference "Georgia and Europe 2008" will be held in Tbilisi on 30th April

LINKS, in collaboration with the Georgian think tank The Strategic Research Centre will host the conference "Georgia and Europe 2008" on Wednesday, 30th April at the Tbilisi Marriott Hotel. The Conference will be chaired by the Former Foreign Minister of Georgia, Irakli Menagharishvili.

A spokesperson for LINKS in London said: This is an extremely important time for Georgia. The country faces its most important test for its democracy in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections in May. Georgia is also facing perhaps its biggest challenge to its territorial integrity following the Russian Government decision to upgrade relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The Conference will provide an excellent opportunity for an open and frank discussion on these issues and LINKS is very pleased to be able to work with its Georgian partner, the Strategic Research Centre to make this happen.
