LINKS takes over Chairmanship of the Consortium Initiative

LINKS has this month taken over the Chairmanship of the Consortium Initiative, a loose coalition of non governmental organisations working to promote a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

Dennis Sammut, LINKS Executive Director, will Chair the Consortium Initiative during 2008.

In an interview carried this morning on the Azerbaijani news portal Day.Az Dennis Sammut said that 2008 should not be another wasted year in the search for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. He dismissed suggestions that because of elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan progress in the settlement of the conflict is impossible this year. He argued that politicians in both Azerbaijan and Armenia claim that there are no differences between Government and Opposition of the two respective countries on this issue. The elections could even be an opportunity for politicians to outline serious policies for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
