LINKS, on behalf of the Secretariat of the Caucasus Caspian Commission organised a seminar on the theme `Realising the full potential of the Caucasus Caspian Region` at the Oxford University Said Business School in Oxford. Members of the Caucasus Caspian Commission were joined by experts from a number of countries to discuss a number of ideas that are currently being considered by the Caucasus Caspian Commission for inclusion in it s report due out in November.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the United Kingdom Government Special Representative for the South Caucasus called on the international community to work more closely with Armenia and Azerbaijan as they continue searching for a lasting solution to the Karabakh problem. He called on the European Union to deploy more people on the ground in the South Caucasus as a way of showing its increased commitment to the region.

On the side of the main meeting LINKS hosted a dialogue between the Armenian and Turkish participants at the event during which a number of ideas on improving Turkish-Armenian Relations were discussed. A spokesman for LINKS in London said that the Oxford seminar provided an excellent opportunity for a discussion on a number of ambitious ideas that are being considered at the moment by the Caucasus Caspian Commission. The spokesman added that whilst the region is regularly in the news the report will provide an opportunity for a more comprehensive discussion of the regions problems and its potential.
