LINKS hosted a round table discussion at the Hyatt Hotel in Baku on the theme Azerbaijan and Europe 2008. The round table provided a rare opportunity for representatives of government, parliament, opposition personalities and civil society to debate together a range of issues from democracy and media freedom to the Karabakh conflict and the country’s foreign relations.
The panel leading the discussion was chaired by Dr Leyla Alieva, President of the Azerbaijan International Studies Centre, Dr Elkhan Nuriyev, Director of the Strategic Studies Centre under the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Erkin Gadirli, Co-Chair of the NGO European Co-ordination Committee and Member of the Caucasus Caspain Commission and LINKS Executive Director Dennis Sammut.
